    New Prius Plug-in Hybrid can turn the sun’s energy into motive power. The Solar Roof converts sunshine into battery charge, generating up to 8km of additional electric range per day.

    Ensure your Prius Plug-in Hybrid is always ready to go by charging at home. It can be fully charged in around 4 hours* from a domestic socket or a home wallbox. Keep an eye on your car’s state of charge via the MyT app on your phone.

T-Mate is a series of systems designed to support you and make driving safer whether you’re on the motorway, in the city or parking. T-Mate makes sure you’re always in safe hands. Listed below are a selection of highlights, discover full T-Mate content for Prius Plug-in Hybrid on the car configurator.
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS)

    Pre-Collision System can detect and help you avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and motorbikes. It works by alerting the driver with audio and visual warnings and brake assistance. If the driver doesn’t manage to brake in time the brakes automatically engage to prevent or mitigate a collision. Additionally, Intersection Collision Avoidance Support and Emergency Steering Assist support in the day when turning at junctions and making evasive maneuvers.

  • This function assists the driver to prevent deviation from the driving lane. The system detects the curve ahead and adjusts the steering assist force to facilitate adequate steering. It can also support to improve straight line driving stability.

  • This system uses the Blind Spot Monitor radar to help prevent a collision between an occupant's opened door and a vehicle or cyclist approaching from behind. If there is a risk of a collision, indicators illuminate on the outer mirrors and multi-information display, together with an audible buzzer to alert occupants.

  • This system uses a camera located above the steering wheel to monitor a driver's alertness and condition. A warning is delivered if the system detects an abnormal status, such as fatigue. These inputs are used to enhance the performance of the Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) through earlier detection of inattentiveness.

  • If the system detects no driver input for some time, audible warnings will alert the driver. If no further inputs are detected, EDSS brings the vehicle to a gradual stop while keeping it safely in lane. Hazard lights are activated to warn other road users, and doors are unlocked to allow emergency services easy access if required.

  • OTA software updates ensure Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is up to date with latest features and improvements

  • This system allows a driver to control vehicle parking from their smartphone while standing outside the car. Simple and easy to use, it supports all types of parking manoeuvres. For added safety, if the user lifts their finger from the smartphone the vehicle stops immediately.​

Plug-in Hybrid FAQs

Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid cars both use the same proven Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, but with a notable difference. Toyota Plug-in Hybrids feature a significantly higher capacity battery and a greater electric-only range – more than 72km* in the case of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid.

 

Plug-ins can also be charged from an external electricity source, such as a domestic socket, a dedicated wallbox or a public charger. While charging as often as possible will allow for maximum efficiency, Toyota Plug-in Hybrids run in Hybrid mode even when uncharged.

 

When in Hybrid mode, all Toyota Hybrids switch seamlessly between two power sources – an efficient petrol engine and an intelligent Self-Charging Hybrid battery. This offers a high degree of flexibility, particularly on longer journeys.

New Prius is playfully responsive and powerful, delivering a dynamic and enjoyable driving experience. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds thanks to its impressive traction and 223hp (DIN) total system power output.

 

More efficient than a conventional car, Dual DNA Prius Plug-in Hybrid delivers greater fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. At the same time Prius Plug-in Hybrid offers all the benefits of electric drive, from powerful instant torque to near-silent urban running.

New Prius offers several Driving Modes, and EV mode allows you to travel anywhere and everywhere on zero-emission battery power alone. Prius Plug-in Hybrid has a pure-electric range of more than 72km*. What’s more, you can sprint to a pure electric speed of 135km/h in EV mode, even under full throttle**. For distances greater than the pure EV range, Prius Plug-in Hybrid works like a Hybrid car, combining petrol power and regenerated battery charge.

Domestic home socket

Easily charged at home, Prius Plug-in Hybrid allows you to schedule charging to take advantage of cheaper tariffs overnight and at off-peak hours, reducing running costs.

 

Home wallbox

New Prius Plug-in Hybrid is at its best when charged regularly, and a home wallbox provides optimum charging convenience and safety. Monitor and control charging remotely using the MyT app.

 

Public chargers

The public charging network is a quick and easy way to ensure your Prius is regularly charged. The MyT app allows you to check the time remaining to a complete charge – useful when using public chargers.

Charging your Prius Plug-in Hybrid from 0-100% takes around four hours (230V 16A). The exact time will depend on the charging conditions.

Charging every day will help you maximise the EV capability of your car and get the most enjoyment from it.

 

A smooth drive

Optimising your driving style will improve your vehicle’s EV efficiency, as well as deliver outstanding performance with every journey.

 

Regenerative boost

Capturing the kinetic energy from braking recharges the battery and intuitively slows the car whenever you lift off the accelerator. New Prius lets you set the level of regenerative braking to suit your preference.

 

Pre-heat the cabin

Enjoy the perfect interior temperature every time with remote pre-conditioning, regardless of the weather. Cool or heat your car before driving without compromising the battery’s operating range.

Charge regularly and you’ll notice significant benefits to your EV driving, including lower emissions and running costs. However, so long as your vehicle is fuelled your Prius can drive in Hybrid mode when the battery is empty.

Toyota builds every battery to last the lifetime of your vehicle. Each battery comes with a 5-year /100,000 km* warranty which can, with an annual Hybrid Health Check, extend battery cover for up to 10 years.
